Spring Nutrition & Fitness Tips

Spring is almost here and that means longer days, more daylight, and warmer weather! So to get the most out of the ahead season, here are some of my favorite fitness & nutrition tips to implement this upcoming Spring!

Tip #1  Spring Veggies, Fruits & Farmers Markets

To guarantee optimal freshness when it comes to produce all while keeping the cost down, shop what is in season.

Spring Vegetables: Artichokes, asparagus, leeks, fennel, potatoes, rhubarb, spinach, and watercress.

Fruit: Apricots, avocados, vegetables, chives, mangoes, peas, and pineapple.

A lot of great in-season veggies and fruit can be found at your local farmers market. This is a great way to get out &  enjoy the weather, support your local growers and score in-season veggies and fruit at some great prices.

Tip #2 Get Outside

Movement, movement, movement, and more movement. Here is the thing, you need to move and not just in the gym or when you are working out. As they say, sitting is the new smoking. With better weather, get in mini-walks when you can. Take a walk on your lunch break or around the neighborhood before and/or after work.

Tip #3 Hikes

Some of the best and enjoyable endurance workouts can be on the trail, in the sand, and even on pavement. Hikes are also great to do with good friends or make a fun family event out of.

Tip #4 Park Workouts

Park workouts are great, especially if you have kids or have to drop off a little one at little league. You can really maximize time while they play or practice. You can get in some good sprints on the open field, do some stair work on the bleachers, use benches for variations of push-ups, triceps dips, and lunges.

Tip #5 Track Workouts

Take it to the track! I love track workouts. Track workouts are a great way to get effective HIIT cardio training sessions. You can mix in sprints, fartleks, vary your pace, speed work all while throwing in some effective plyos into the mix.

Tip #6 Iced Teas & Infused Water

Warmer weather, calls for more water. A great way to get in lots of hydration with some added benefits is to drink herbal iced teas and water infused with some of your favorite fruits. I personally love adding lemon slices to my water bottles. Lemon water is also great for detoxification.

Tip #7 Lunch & Dinner Walks

With better weather and lighter hours, never miss an opportunity to get in some natural movement. It’s a great way to get in some extra fresh air too. I mean who doesn’t love a long romantic walk after dinner.;)

Tip #8 Spring Cleaning

Sounds weird, I know but cleaning does burn calories and there is something so euphoric about a really clean home.

  1. Infused water!!! That is pretty much the only way I will do it – that and when it’s sparkly but at the same time that makes me bloated and… Uh, well in spring you wear more revealing shirts and that sparkly water does nothing to make me look sexyyyyyy in a tight shirt LOL! #pregnantwithbubbles
